CHEMICAL COMPOSITION:
It is a metallic soap, made from the chemical reaction of metal oxide, hydroxide and salt with mono carboxylic saturated acid like napthenic, octoic etc. The soap thus made is thinned with mineral turpentine to make different concentrations.

PROPERTIES AND USES:
Iron exhibits a polymerizing effect which is very active at elevated temperature Hence, it is used extensively in baking finishes .It provides tough durable, yet very flexible with extremely good gloss. It can be used in Aluminium paints. In air drying finishes , it is very useful in eliminating film tackiness of paint containing higher percentage of non-drying component. It helps to promote wetting of carbon black and Iron oxide pigment for better dispersion.
